WannaCry has infected hundreds of thousands of computers around the world in 150 countries. The advice is to update Windows to ensure you are protected.
But what do you do if the ransomware arrives on your computer?

Star Trek - Kirk style Ransomware has a Spock decrypter

A new ransomware named ‘Kirk’ after popular Star Trek character James. T. Kirk has recently been discovered by an avast researcher.

Like most forms of ransomware, Kirk Ransomware immediately starts encrypting a victim’s files once the malware has been installed and the most interesting characteristic of Kirk Ransomware is the currency demanded for the ransom payment, Monero.
How Does Kirk Ransomware Work? 
  It’s currently unknown how the Kirk Ransomware is being distributed. However, it is known that it is camouflaged as the network stress tool called Low Orbital Ion Cannon. When executed, Kirk will generate an Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) password that is used to encrypt a victim’s files.

Microsoft will stop all support for Windows Vista in two months, ending the operating system's usefulness when it issues final patches on April 11th. 2017   Vista was never a break-out hit for Microsoft, as were both its Windows XP predecessor and its successor, Windows 7   After Vista's retirement from support, the next edition on the out-to-pasture list will be Windows 7, which is slated to receive its last security update on Jan. 14, 2020.

Hitler Ransomware attacks on the rise

New Hitler 1 & 2 Ransomeware attacks are on the rise.

                                   

The ransomware says files can supposedly be recovered by paying 25 euros, in the form of a Vodafone cash card – which is more traceable than BitCoin.

After that hour it will crash the victim's computer, and on reboot, delete all of the files under the [use profile] of the victim,” it adds.

The new version 2 now cripples the windows operating system.
